Falling in Love with T4G

One of the best weeks of my life happened recently. I know- that's a pretty dramatic statement to make, but it was. This past April I attended the Together for the Gospel conference in Louisville, KY. I remember saying to Jason as we were making the 13 hour drive there, "I wonder if this conference is really worth the money we paid, the vacation week you took, and this extremely long drive." I knew the speakers would be fantastic, but I also knew I could listen and possibly even watch their talks from my computer at home, with the registration money still in my bank account-and Jason's vacation week still left up for grabs. This conference was what Jason and I decided to give each other as our Christmas present last year- and so 4 months after Christmas we were hoping that it really would prove to be worth it to actually go. We confidently report to you- It was worth that and more.
I could go on and on about how great every message was, and the rest of the details but I think I would serve you better if I posted these 3 videos- so maybe you could have a little bite yourself. All three of these happened within the last 24 hours of the conference and that is when the Lord did the most work in my heart as well. So we'll begin with the most helpful song (personally) that we sang since it is a great aid in being ready for the second video. "All I Have Is Christ" - (note: this video is at the NEXT conference, but this is the exact version we sang at T4G).

John Piper's message- persevere through the first 20 minutes- they are good but it's the last half that will hopefully make you cry out to the Lord. Every believer needs this message.

That message came late Wednesday night and then Thursday morning after Duncan's message, Matt Chandler who is a young passionate pastor out at The Village Church in Texas spoke. This past Thanksgiving Chandler found out he had a malignant brain tumor that was not encapsulated- they performed surgery almost immediately but were unable to remove all of the tumor. Chandler has decided to put himself in front of the world in hopes that he will suffer well for the sake of the Gospel- namely to show that God is his treasure not his health.
He shares his story and his prayers in this video, followed by a short and powerful talk by C.J. Mahaney, and the video ends with all the keynote speakers gathering around Matt Chandler to pray for his healing. We ended that session with 7000 people singing "It is Well with my Soul". To say this hour was moving would be a gigantic understatement.

I hope you will take time to watch and listen to these videos- and I am confident that if you deeply desire to hear from the Lord, you will.

I agree. It was well worth the time and money. Oh, by the way, I Love You!
